Other responsibilities include:

Providing patrol and investigative services throughout Pendleton County
Serving all legal papers issued by the courts to be served in the county
Acting as bailiff in court hearings
Transportation of prisoners, mental patients, and extraditions
Issuing concealed Pistol/Revolver licenses to citizens who apply for the permit

Tax Office

The Sheriff’s Tax Office is responsible for collecting all county taxes. The tax statements are mailed from the Sheriff’s Office on or near July 15th of each year. Taxes are due by September 1 to receive a discount on the first half taxes and by March 1 to receive a discount on the second half taxes. All unpaid taxes become delinquent on May 1 each year.

Property taxes are now available for viewing at the following web address: www.wvpropertytaxes.com. This link is for inquiries only, not for payment purposes.

All real estate delinquent property taxes that are not paid by October 31 by closing time will be Certified to the State. The land sale will then be in June of the following year. The taxpayer will have the time between the two dates to redeem the property. The redemption cost will consist of all the taxes owed, interest, penalties, publication fees, and possibly attorney fees.
